Simply the best automotive repair manuals, the Bentley Bibles are worth their weight in gold. While not as photo-heavy as the Haynes manual, this is the MOST informative book I've found on working on Saab 900s. (The series is entirely fabulous, I own both the Saab and Volvo manuals, and they have saved me both time and money.) The Bentley Manual is simply the most thorough repair manual available. --saabcentral.comFull content visible, double tap to read brief content. Kitty 5.0 out of 5 stars I have to take the manual to the repair shop with the car so the technician can try and fix what might be wrong!I purchased this manual after looking at some others, It is geared more for someone that knows their way around vehicle systems. I found it very helpful in troubleshooting a no start condition on my 900s. I mainly purchased for the electrical diagrams and part locations which are not bad after you figure out how they organize them in the book, not a big issue. With the price of repair shops, this book will pay for itself quickly when doing your own repairs. There's just not a better manual out there. However, even this book is lacking in a lot of ways. For one, it's not for the beginner or for someone who's afraid of messing up their car.http://etonbio.com/newsLetters/images/finesse-overlocker-manual.xml This book assumes you have a fairly well-established knowledge of the car and skips a lot of details it assumes you'd know. A total novice would be lost with this book. On the other hand, if you do know these cars pretty well, the Bentley manual can help fill in the blanks of a project you'd otherwise not want to do if you didn't have a little guidance. Not for the faint of heart though.I also own a 1988 Saab 900 convertible. I have reviewed this manual to assist me in replacing a transmission in the 1988 and replacing the convertible top and it's frame mechanisim. I also need to replace the timing belt on my 1991 convertible. The information provided in this manual will be the perfect assistance I need to guide me through the unique remove and repair process. Can't wait to get started.I have learned sooo much. I isn't meant for beginners however. You do need previous car experience to get anywhere in it, but it has everything I need. Only problem is the sunroof cables. It doesn't have anything on that, because it involves removing the back window.Additionally, it helped with getting the ignition tumbler out of the vehicle, lower control arm replacement, engine electronics diagnosis, etc.Very clearly laid out and on first use is comprehensive (rear suspension rebushing). Naturally after buying this I found my old Haynes manual. Nevertheless I would recommend this even if you already have an original print Haynes manual, after all you can never have too many manuals to look through after you've dismantled your car!It was very expensive in comparison and is not any better so get the Haynes version first for ?10 it might save you ?50Not cheap but worth every penny if you are serious about keeping a classic 900 16v on the road, whether or not you intend to do much work on it yourself.Book tags are created from a variety of sources, some of which are customer-generated. The first production model was launched in 1949, and in 1978 the Saab 900 launched, which quickly became its best selling car. Available in hatchback, sedan, convertible and coupe designs, the 900 was highly successful for Saab and earned the company a profit in 1995 for the first time in seven years. General Motors took a 50 ownership in Saab Automobile in 1990, and acquired the remaining 50 in 2000. The brand was subsequently sold to Spyker Cars, before going bankrupt in 2011. Production was finally halted in 2014 after unsuccessful attempts to revive the brand. Absolutely nothing on the engine management system or the fuel injection system in the way of theory of operation of troubleshooting or a description of the components. Barely acknowledge that these systems exist. Nothing that addresses the kinds of problems that an owner experiences with the car. Lots of filler language that is common knowledge and never gets into the really needed stuff. The electrical diagrams are about the only useful thing in the whole book and the only reason for the star. Unusual presentation, but once you get a grip on the way things or represented the diagrams are reasonably accurate and can save a lot of time chasing things down. So if you are looking for a manual that covers the whole car with relevant entries and useful troubleshooting help on anything outside of the electrical diagrams, I say forget this book. Useless! Not worth a dime for anything outside of the diagrams. And the Saab has a lot of electrical problems. One more thing. Once you have mastered reading the unconventional electrical diagrams, not rocket science if you are a fluent diagram reader, and you have diagnosed to the point of suspecting a certain component, the next question is; Where the hell is it in the car. I have seen a lot of manuals not only for cars, but industrial equipment and electronics as well and I have written a few too, so I can confidently say that this one sucks 99. I almost forgot. The suggested access method for removing the alternator apparently was never really tried because you can't get it out that way. No way. Dreaming! Not possible. There may be other procedures in the book sharing this property. I didn't dismantle the whole car. But I did find a way to replace the core plugs on the firewall side of the engine with the engine in the car. Nothing mentioned in the book addressing replacing core plugs. You're on your own there. The holes are there to clean out the core from the casting process and for no other reason. It's an interesting addition to my ever-growing collection of Haynes and Chilton's manuals; but it falls somewhat short as a remedy to the innumerable niggling little short-comings of my sexy black Swede.Lots of pictures and hints on how to do troubleshooting and repairs. Note that if you are planning engine or transmission rebuilds this is not the book for you. But if you are planning minor repairs then this is the ticket. I will be doing a full rear brake job (rotors and pads) next weekend. So this one points out the overall repair process for my particular Saab. Nothing out of the ordinary!Other than that, it is as complete as any Haynes manual. One other review mentioned that the manual does not include wiring diagrams. I don't know what they were talking about. There is a complete set of wiring diagrams. As I said, it has been very helpful. I would not have guessed that the first step was to remove the drivers side seat belt. Clutch replacement is next on the list. The diagrams are hard to see the detail and it falls short on descriptions, but it does cover most aspects of the car. It's a must have if you own one of these finicky cars and do any wrenching on them yourself. I love my '95 convertible, but it has its faults. This book has been a big help. There is lot of information but they omit things like: EXHAUST!!! These vehicles have an odd ball and socket exhaust connection with a band clamp, it would have been nice to get some pointers on assembly. Also, no mention of seat heaters, radio repair, antenna fixes. Fortunately, there is wealth of information available on the web. All in all, its handy because it has fluid and torquing specs.Impossible to get parts, but this book will at least let me know what part is broken that I can't replace. Probably find a close alternative to slowly help in re-building the whole engine. Maybe an old air cooled thing. But it is turbo-charged which I understand is a sought after commodity in this auto.I'll get started fixing my car right away. Overall seems pretty comprehensive. Fast easy shipping through amazon was a plus. There's just not a better manual out there. Not for the faint of heart though.I highly recommend this book to anyone, from the beginner looking to understand how their car works to an intermediate grease monkey like myself. The book is lacking a couple key areas, though. One is the drawings. These desperately need to be upgraded to photos, color, if possible. Some suggestions to improve the book: a complete breakdown of the car (seems some smaller items are left as an exercise for the reader, as was investigating a broken door latch on my 900), lots more photos, and COLOR. The pros far outweigh the cons, though, and coupled with a good online help community like the Saab Network bulletin boards, there's very little you can't repair on your own with this book. A must have for anyone who wants to keep their 900's running. The idle speed was running very high most of the time, around 2,000 rpm. When I touched the accelerator it dropped down to around 1,200 rpm, still about 300 rpm above normal. It also (just once) alarmingly lost then regained power, quickly, so I was kangaroo-ing down the road looking like a first-time driver not able to handle the clutch. Upon receiving the book I started to diagnose the problem. Within thirty minutes I was confident it was one of two things, both easy to check using the information in this book. It turned out not to be the air mass meter, but instead was the throttle position sensor. The car was fixed within an hour and is running (touch wood) wonderfully now. Using this book saved me money. A big thanks for Bentley publishers !However, it doesn't cover the inner construction of the transmission so it will only help you with it as a whole. Other than that, it is filled to the brim with technical data from the different years, as well as, wiring diagrams and trouble shooting guides. Not to mention countless other procedures and contstruction diagrams. For the boss, it's really easy, could even solo it with a good build. Just attack really, wouldn't hurt to have some kind of healing but it's a joke. Just DPS and kill, try to avoid hits if you can but the fight is short. Stay in the middle (to avoid ice that freezes you and boss will come back to the center), dodge or block when boss returns center. Try to kill both at the same time. Main thing to avoid is the red AoEs that show up under everyone, try to stay stacked till they do then rotate (or dodge) off them. Groups tend to just rotate around the boss and heal while ignoring mechanics. CC with special action when it comes up. Dodge when boss disappears and red circle pulls people into center. Spread out for red circles, stack together in green. At 75 (and 25) you'll be teleported to a clone, kill it. After that people start getting chains which connect you to the boss and damage anyone in front of you (or in the boss hitbox). You want chains to stay close to the boss and not behind other people. Don't stand in hitbox!. Below 25 the boss shoots out orbs (can be blocked with stuff like Flesh Wurm ), you'll see arrows to let you know, touching one makes it explode in that spot many times. If you do hit one, move out of the AoE. CC when the defiance bar shows up. Starts with some setup events before you escort a tank to a boss.
